People at ASO
Take a look behind the scenes: our employees explain what ASO means to them.

Heiko Elbers, Head of IT
What does a typical working day in your job look like?
“A typical working day begins with a brief team meeting to discuss current tasks, priorities and potential challenges. This is followed by routine system checks, including monitoring system status, supervising backups and analysing and dealing with any malfunctions or anomalies. An essential part of my daily work is close cooperation with other departments. This often involves optimising existing processes, identifying potential for improvement, or coordinating cross-departmental IT projects. Supporting and implementing such projects is just as much a part of my responsibilities as the strategic development of the IT infrastructure.”
What do you particularly enjoy about your work?
“What I particularly appreciate about my job is the cross-departmental communication within the company. Regular exchanges with colleagues from different departments enable a deep understanding of internal processes and system networking – always with the aim of developing solutions that are efficient and do not place an additional burden on employees. The diversity of requirements and the dynamics of the IT world present exciting challenges that we successfully master, also in cooperation with external partners.”
What do you appreciate about ASO as an employer?
“What makes working at ASO GmbH particularly enjoyable is the positive working atmosphere and the short communication and decision-making channels. Whether it’s coordinating investments with management or quickly exchanging information with other departments and employees, decisions can be made quickly and practically.”
Günter Meier, Head of Warehouse & Logistics
Thanks to my commitment and the experience I have gained, I took over as head of the Warehouse & Logistics department in 2019 and have also been acting as deputy production manager since then.”
What do you do in your free time – or how do you switch off after work?
“To switch off, I regularly go to football matches – I not only enjoy watching, but also still play actively myself. Otherwise, I enjoy spending time with my family. With four children and a dog, there is always something going on – there is certainly no chance of boredom setting in.”
What do you personally appreciate about ASO as an employer?
“I particularly appreciate the working hours – at 37 hours per week compared to the usual 42 or more, it’s really family-friendly and compatible with my private life. The exciting products and the opportunity to develop professionally and take on new challenges also convinced me.”
Was there a project or moment that you are particularly proud of?
“Since we manufacture very specialised products, every day is essentially a project for me. Through our work, we actively contribute to protecting people and machines. Together with my team, I ensure that our products reach our customers safely and reliably. And when I see them in use – whether in industry or everyday life – it fills me with genuine pride.”

Sascha Wöstheinrich, Board Assistant
At the end of 2022, I took on a new role as Board Assistant. In this position, I now support the management in a wide range of areas – from organisational and administrative tasks to content-related work. At the same time, I continue to maintain article and master data in the ERP system, thus supporting product management in this very area. The combination of my role as an assistant at management level and my in-depth experience in the ERP environment allows me to effectively combine detailed operational work with overarching contexts.”
How did you come to ASO and what convinced you?
“I became aware of ASO through a job advertisement for training as an industrial clerk. Even during the interview, I was impressed by the family-like environment – the open, friendly atmosphere and positive interactions immediately left a lasting impression on me. This immediately gave me the feeling that I was in good hands here.”
What do you particularly enjoy about your work – and what are your biggest challenges?
“I particularly enjoy the varied tasks – no two days are the same, and that’s what makes it exciting. It definitely never gets boring. At the same time, the variety is also a challenge, because it requires flexibility, good organisation and a willingness to constantly engage with new topics.”
What do you do in your free time – or how do you switch off after work?
“In my free time, I like to be active, currently mainly playing football and strength training. I also enjoy tinkering with my car from time to time. In the future, however, my little family will certainly ensure that I can switch off after work and recharge my batteries.”
