Industrial Automation
Our safety sensors are used wherever automated processes may pose a risk to humans. They enable reliable access detection in a wide variety of applications – especially in safety-critical areas around machines, CNC systems and transfer lines. In addition, they provide effective pinch protection for securing linear closing edges, thus making a decisive contribution to accident prevention in industrial automation.
Safety for machining centres with mobile gantries
Maximum speeds mean increased efficiency for machining centres, whereby the freedom of movement of operating personnel for loading the machine should always be taken into account. Continued operation of the machining centre at reduced speed as soon as the safety distance is exceeded, while still providing 100% personal protection – that’s what our SENTIR bumper contact bumpers deliver. Only in the event of direct contact in the acute danger zone is an immediate stop signal triggered, naturally taking into account the portal’s overrun distance and the permissible forces.
The use of SENTIR mat contact mats from ASO as multi-zone area protection also ensures process continuity despite entry into the danger zone. The milling, pressing, turning or welding centre operates on one side of the machine table, while on the other side of the machine table, skilled workers can remove finished parts – all at full speed. If the safety area in the middle is entered, the speed of the gantry is reduced, while in the danger zone, an immediate stop is triggered when the mat is entered. Depending on the environment, the use of one of the two tactile sensors means that additional protective enclosures are not required, allowing maximum use of space. The SENTIR sensors are unaffected by falling chips, vibrations or other environmental influences, as is the complementary ELMON relay evaluation device series, which switches off safely when activated.
Safety for enclosed machining centres
Automatically operated doors and flaps on machining centres can save time by opening and closing quickly, allowing workpiece machining to account for the maximum proportion of the work process. The potential pinch points of the faster doors are secured by our SENTIR edge contact edges, which trigger an immediate stop or reversal when activated.
The patented double chamber system protects the internal switching chamber from external mechanical influences. Radii or bend angles for precise integration into door and machine designs are a matter of course, as are robust materials with high resistance to a wide range of influences. In addition to a very wide range of different profile dimensions, our in-house development and extrusion department can create a profile tailored to individual requirements. For example, translucent material can be used to provide illumination using LED strips.
Our SENTIR mat contact mats protect against dangerous situations involving moving parts in front of or inside the machine. The SENTIR mat ensures worker presence detection in a wide range of applications and areas. Whether it is access protection or ensuring freedom of movement for the milling, drilling or spraying head inside the machine,
the contact mat prevents dangerous movements.
